3 New York Rangers Trade Targets
New York Rangers general manager Chris Drury will be busy before the March 3 trade deadline. The Rangers are currently holding the first wildcard position in the Eastern Conference and will be in the market for some help up front for their playoff push. Here's three trade targets for Drury and the blue shirts:
Patrick Kane
Nothing has changed here, if Chicago Blackhawks legend Patrick Kane wants to play for the Rangers, the two teams will make it happen. There's been a lot of focus on Alexis Lafreniere of late, and rightfully so, because if Kane is going to re-sign in New York, the Blackhawks will want a big trade chip back in return. There'd likely be more to the deal just to make the money work, however remind yourselves Kane holds all the cards here and if he wants to be reunited with Artemi Panarin, it's going to happen.
Andrei Kuzmenko
Another player familiar to Panarin is 26-year-old rookie Andrei Kuzmenko. The shifty winger from the Vancouver Canucks is enjoying himself a successful first season in the NHL, recording an impressive 32 points in 35 games so far in 2022-23. He's versatile to play on either wing, he's crafty and works hard which fits in nicely for a Gerard Gallant hockey team. Kuzmenko carries a $950,000 cap hit and is someone a lot of teams will be interested in.
Timo Meier
Adding San Jose Sharks forward Timo Meier to the Rangers would give them basically another Chris Kreider type of player for their mix. Meier is big, he's physical, and he's a legit top-six forward with serious offensive game. Meier can have an impact all over the ice and will the Sharks rebuilding, is someone that's available for the right price. Lafreniere would likely be in play here as Sharks GM Mike Grier would be wise to try and land the former number one pick from his close buddy in New York.
