3 Potential Landing Spots for Maple Leafs' Justin Holl
The Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to be busy before the 2023 trade deadline March 3 and one defenseman who could be in play is pending free agent Justin Holl. With the emergence of Connor Timmins and the development of Timothy Liljegren, Holl is expendable. Here's three potential landing spots for the defensive defenseman:
Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins don't have a ton of depth on the right side of their defense. There's been injury concerns to some of their top defenders and adding Holl would be wise for management. The 6-foot-4 blueliner would help their penalty kill and be able to eat minutes for the Penguins.
Minnesota Wild
The Wild are in the market for rentals as general manager Bill Guerin has financial issues to work out next summer. Holl could provide the Wild with a low-cost acquisition and help their shut-down game. He's making $2 million against the cap and the Leafs need depth forwards, so look for this in a potential swap.
Arizona Coyotes
There's a lot of speculation about Jakob Chychrun heading to Toronto and if it happens, the teams will need to balance out the money. Holl and his $2 million help do so, and he could be included here. Of course, it's going to take a couple of Maple Leafs' prospects and at least one first rounder to get this deal done.
