3 Potential Trade Destinations for Sharks Timo Meier
The San Jose Sharks are open for business and will be one of the more active sellers on the trade market leading up to the March 3 trade deadline. Their biggest trade chip is forward Timo Meier as he's a top-six winger who can easily upgrade any Stanley Cup contender. Let's examine a few potential destinations for the Sharks forward:
Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins have a ton of cap space to work with next season and could easily re-sign Meier to a long-term contract extension. They also have the necessary draft picks and prospects the Sharks could be after as the package to acquire Meier will be steep.
New Jersey Devils
Adding Meier to close friend Nico Hischier could be the type of move that propels the Devils this season. New Jersey is in the market for help on the wing and Meier is likely one of their top priorities. He's physical, can score, can set up, and the transition to the Devils would be seamless considering the familiarity involved.

New York Islanders
The Islanders are another team looking for more offense and could have interest in Meier because he's a restricted free agent at season's end. Lou Lamoriello isn't one to sell the farm for a rental, but if Meier stays long term that's very different. Certainly something to keep an eye on as these two teams could become trade partners this spring.
