LA Kings & St. Louis Blues Emerging as Trading Partners

The Los Angeles Kings are in a good spot in the standings at this juncture. A major reason for that is their strong offense, but at the same time, they are far from perfect. Goaltending is a major issue for them, as Jonathan Quick and Cal Petersen have had very rough seasons, and that has even led the latter to be sent down to the AHL. Although Pheonix Copley has stepped in well, it is clear that goaltending is an area that they should be looking to improve at the deadline. In a recent piece for Daily Faceoff, Mike McKenna brought up the prospect of them making a push for St. Louis Blues goalie Thomas Greiss.

Greiss has quietly had a solid season for the Blues this season, and that could make him a popular trade target at the deadline because of it. In 12 appearances, he has a 5-5-0 record to go along with a solid .911 save percentage. Overall, he has shown that he can still be an effective netminder at the NHL level, so it could make sense for the Kings to bring him in.

Greiss may not be a star, but he would give them a reliable option moving forward. Alas, let's see if LA and St. Louis strike a deal from here.
