New York Rangers Sign Forward to Extension
The New York Rangers have signed Jimmy Vesey to a two-year, $1.6 million contract extension.
Vesey returned to the Rangers this offseason after playing for four different teams since the 2019-20 campaign. In 38 games with the Blueshirts this year, Vesey has proved to be a decent depth forward, as he has six goals and 12 points. Now, his solid play has earned him a multi-year extension.
Although Vesey never became a star in the NHL after winning the Hobey Baker Award, he has shown the league that he can be a decent contributor. As a result, he should continue to be a solid bottom-six option for the Rangers during the duration of this extension. Overall, this is a low-risk move and a decent cap hit for a player of Vesey’s role. As a result, it’s hard much to complain about the move.
Let's see how he responds to signing this deal from here.
