NHL Rumors: Arizona Coyotes & St. Louis Blues Talking Blockbuster

Since last season, Arizona Coyotes start defenseman Jakob Chychrun has been on the trading block. Yet, even with this being the case, he still remains a Coyote at the time of this writing. Interest in his services is skyrocketing, however, as several teams are looking to add the star defenseman. According to the Fourth Period, the St. Louis Blues are currently one of the teams trying to pick him up.

Although the Blues’ playoff hopes are looking rather low right now, Chychrun has multiple years left on his contract, so he would be far more than a rental for them. As a result, it makes sense that they are currently considering him as a trade target. Furthermore, the left side of their defense certainly could use a boost, and he would provide just that.

If the Blues acquire him, he would fit beautifully on their top pairing and would arguably be their best defenseman upon his arrival. He also would work quite well on both their power play and penalty kill due to his strong all-around game, so he would make a major impact on their roster. Alas, let’s see if this interest ends up leading to a trade between Arizona and St. Louis from here.
