NHL Rumors: Calgary Flames Linked to Blue Jackets Forward

The Calgary Flames were expected to be one of the top teams in the NHL the season, but at the time of this writing, they are fighting for a playoff spot. Their disappointing start to the year is primarily due to their immense scoring woes, so they are expected to add a forward before the trade deadline passes. With pending unrestricted free agent Gustav Nyquist available, he could certainly be one of their targets.

Nyquist is a quality second-line winger while playing at his best, as he can produce very solid offense due to his excellent passing ability. This, in turn, could lead Calgary to make a legitimate push for him at the deadline. After all, he would be a nice boost to the middle six and also provide them with a bit more experience in the process.

Although Nyquist will not be the biggest name available at the trade deadline, he is still a very solid player and should have a decent amount of teams pursuing him because of it. Alas, we will have to wait and see if the Flames end up being the team that successfully lands him from here.
