NHL Rumors: Canadiens & Bruins Linked to Rare Trade
The Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins are rivals, and aren't necessarily in the business of making the other team better, so this rumor was even a surprise to us. The Bruins and Canadiens have recently been linked by Yvon Pedneault of TVA Sports, with the potential of a Sean Monahan trade on the table.
Monahan is currently on the shelve with injury, but has been a bright spot on a struggling Canadiens team. He's recorded 17 points in 25 games and could be a significant piece for the Bruins to acquire just based on his experience from his Calgary Flames days but also the fact Monahan can play all three forward positions.
The 28-year-old versatile forward is a pending unrestricted free agent with a $6.37 million cap hit. He holds a 10-team no trade list, however the mighty Bruins are likely a team many trade candidates want to join as they're currently the Stanley Cup favorites.
