NHL Rumors: Colorado Avalanche Linked to St. Louis Blues Captain
The Colorado Avalanche have been fairly underwhelming for their standards this season, but a major reason behind this has been their injury trouble when it comes to their forward group. However, they also lost Nazem Kadri through free agency this past offseason and have yet to find a legitimate replacement for him. As a result, we should expect them to try to add a second-line center before the deadline passes, and old friend Ryan O’Reilly could be the perfect fit for that.
There has been some buzz about a potential reunion between O’Reilly and the Avalanche, and that ultimately makes sense. After all, the Avalanche could use a boost with their current forward group, and the veteran center would provide just that. Furthermore, besides being a solid offensive player, he also would work well on their penalty kill because of his reliable defensive play.
It is clear that the Avalanche need to make at least one big move to help things get back on track. Bringing in a veteran like O’Reilly could certainly help change things in a positive way, so let’s see if the Avalanche and Blues end up striking a deal before the trade deadline passes.
