NHL Rumors: Coyotes Rejecting Several Trade Offers
The Arizona Coyotes are sticking to their guns and so far have gotten nowhere when it comes to dealing defenseman Jakob Chychrun. The team continues to ask other teams for at least one first-round pick at the 2023 or 2024 draft, along with a recent selected first-round prospect.
Chychrun is finally healthy and playing a big role in Arizona. He's managed to appear in 20 games this season and has already put up 18 points. There's been little doubt cast that he's a true #1 defenseman who can play in all situations and make an impact on both sides of the puck.
Chychrun's contract is also very appealing to other teams as he's signed through the 2024-25 season at only $4.6 million annually. Essentially half the price of what some other #1 defensemen cost and this is why the Coyotes are playing a hard bargain.
The 24-year-old blueliner has asked the team to trade him to a contender, meanwhile his no-trade protection does not kick in until after this season. So far, nothing appears to be imminent on the trade front as the Coyotes are being patient waiting for someone to meet their demands. The 2023 trade deadline is March 3.
