NHL Rumors: Florida Panthers Considering Trading Forwards
After winning the Presidents’ Trophy in 2021-22, the Florida Panthers have been extremely underwhelming this season and are out of the playoffs at this time. As a result of their rough campaign, there’s a chance that we could see them retool their roster a bit. In a recent piece for Daily Faceoff, Frank Seravalli noted that Florida could look to trade either Sam Bennett or Sam Reinhart because of it.
There’s no question that both Bennett and Reinhart would garner interest if they are made available. While playing at their bests, both players are capable of producing like top-six forwards, and playoff teams always want to add those. Furthermore, they each have term on their deals, so they would be more than just rentals. As a result, the Panthers could get a very good return for either one of them.
If the Panthers do not find last year’s magic and heat up, they are very likely to miss the playoffs this year. If they do not hold a playoff position at the deadline, don’t be shocked to see one of Bennett or Reinhart traded elsewhere before it passes.
