NHL Rumors: Flyers Listening to Offers for Defenseman

Earlier this season, the Philadelphia Flyers signed Travis Sanheim to an eight-year, $50 million contract extension. Yet, even after signing this multi-year extension to stay with the Flyers, his future in Philadelphia appears not to be set in stone. According to David Pagnotta of the Fourth Period, Sanheim
is one of the many players that the Flyers are willing to hear trade offers for.

This is certainly an interesting development, as one probably wouldn’t have expected this with Sanheim signing his long-term deal with the Flyers earlier this year. Yet, with the Flyers continuing to struggle, it appears that they are not against the idea of moving Sanheim entirely if it results in them improving their roster for the future. Yet, as Pagnotta noted in his piece, it would require a notable trade package for the Flyers to consider moving the defenseman.

With Sanheim having so many years left on his contract, there’s no rush for the Flyers to move him. However, if a playoff team ends up sending them a big enough offer at the deadline, perhaps we will see him moved. We will have to wait and see what happens on that front from here.
