NHL Rumors: Insider Links Rangers Trade to Patrick Kane
The New York Rangers are going to be buyers ahead of the 2023 trade deadline on March 3. General manager Chris Drury is never shy to make a bold move and this season will be no different. The Rangers are a contender in the Eastern Conference and are likely only one or two pieces away from the elite of the league.
Recently, hockey insider Chris Johnston reviewed some of the NHL's playoff-bound teams and highlighted what to expect from them ahead of the trade deadline. Here's what CJ had to say about the Rangers:
A rare contender that owns two 2023 first-round draft picks, the Rangers have been linked to some of the bigger-name forwards available. It’s certainly in the front office’s DNA. GM Chris Drury was extremely active at last year’s deadline and saw his team reach the Eastern Conference Final. Adding a top-six winger would make a lot of sense and Patrick Kane could be a particularly nice fit on Broadway if he elects to waive a no-movement clause for a trade out of Chicago.
Kane holds all the cards as his no-movement clause allows him to. There's been speculation for a few years now he'd like to eventually one day reunite with Artemi Panarin. Will this be the year? From everything we've heard in 2022-23, it appears so.
