NHL Rumors: Latest on Timo Meier's Future With San Jose Sharks

Earlier this season, San Jose Sharks GM Mike Grier implied that the Sharks are set to go on a full-on rebuild. Timo Meier has become the team's biggest trade asset because of this, and his name has been buzzing in the rumor mill because of it. It appears that this buzz is picking up some legitimate steam, as Corey Masisak reported that the odds are not high that Meier will be a Shark next season.

There is certainly interest in Meier's services around the league right now, so this development is not too surprising to hear. It seems quite likely that he will be dealt elsewhere before the trade deadline passes, as he is the kind of star winger that playoff teams would love to get their hands on.

Alas, it will be intriguing to see if Meier ends up being moved at the deadline from here. If not, expect an offseason trade pretty early on.
