NHL Rumors: New Jersey Devils Making Push for Winger
The New Jersey Devils have been one of the biggest surprises in the NHL this season. Not too many people believed that they would be a playoff team this year, but now they are one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. As a result, they will be buyers at the deadline, and they already are being linked to some players because of it. According to The Fourth Period, the Devils have called about Columbus Blue Jackets forward Gustav Nyquist.
When looking at New Jersey’s roster, it is fair to argue that they could use a bit more forward depth. Nyquist would certainly provide them with that, as he is a quality middle-six forward while playing at his best. This is because he provides strong secondary scoring and is always a threat to create chances due to his strong passing ability.
Nyquist is a pending UFA, so it seems inevitable that the Blue Jackets will move him. After all, they are one of the worst teams in the NHL right now, so it would be wise for them to land a draft pick or two for the veteran winger. Alas, let’s see if the Devils end up being the team that acquires him from here.
