NHL Rumors: New York Islanders Linked to Star Winger
The New York Islanders are once again looking like a team who could make the playoffs. However, there’s no question that they also could use a scoring winner. This is been an issue for them for multiple years now, so it seems likely that they will be aiming to change it at the deadline. According to the Fourth Period, one winger who’s on their radar is St. Louis Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko.
Tarasenko is one of the top rental candidates heading into the deadline, so there should be several teams aiming to acquire him. However, if the Islanders have their way, they will end up being the team to land the veteran forward. He certainly would be a great fit on the roster, as he would likely play on the line with playmaking Center, Mathew Barzal. That could be a lethal duo and exactly the kind of move that could help the Islanders go on a legitimate playoff run.
Unless the Blues can end up back in the playoff race, Tarasenko will very likely be traded at the deadline. If he is indeed shopped, let’s see if the Islanders end up landing their primary trade target from here.
