NHL Rumors: New York Islanders Linked to Star Winger
The New York Islanders are having a strong bounce-back season, but it is clear that they could still use some upgrades if they want to go on a legitimate playoff run. Adding a scoring winger should be New York’s primary objective at the deadline, and it appears that that is exactly what they’re trying to do. According to the Fourth Period, The Islanders are one of the teams that are currently linked to Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane.
Kane would certainly be a fantastic addition for the Islanders, as it would finally give them an elite winger to play with Star center Mathew Barzal. Furthermore, they also would be landing a three-time Stanley Cup winner, so that makes Kane only more appealing.
Several teams are already expressing interest in Kane, so the Islanders will have a lot of competition for services. Furthermore, for the Islanders to successfully acquire Kane, they will need the Blackhawks to retain half his salary, and a third team would need to help as well. Although there are obstacles for the Islanders to overcome for this deal to work, they should still go all-in for Kane. It could be the move that finally carries them to the top and gets them there for Stanley Cup since 1983. Let’s see if a big move comes from here.
