NHL Rumors: NY Islanders Linked to Chicago Blackhawks Forward
The New York Islanders are in the Eastern Conference wild card race after a solid start to the year. However, even with this being the case, it is clear that they need to add at least one scoring winger to their group. This has been an ongoing problem for them for quite some time, and GM Lou Lamoriello has yet to address it. However, expect things to change on that front, as they are reportedly one of the clubs looking at Chicago Blackhawks forward Andreas Athanasiou.
Athanasiou is one of the Blackhawks' notable rental candidates, and he is expected to be moved before the deadline because of it. The 28-year-old would certainly give a boost to the Islanders' middle six if acquired, as he offers a nice blend of great speed and solid playmaking ability. This is the kind of forward New York needs to add to their group.
Alas, we will have to wait and see if the Blackhawks and Islanders end up striking a deal centering around the speedy winger from here.
