NHL Rumors: Ottawa Senators & Blue Jackets Talking Trade

The Ottawa Senators’ playoff hopes may be low, but they are actively looking to add a top-four defenseman before the deadline passes. According to The Fourth Period, the Senators are interested in bringing in Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov because of it.

It appears that the Senators are not ready to give up on this season if they want to bring in a pending UFA like Gavrikov. Yet, if they successfully land him, their primary objective would be to sign him to a long-term extension. The Senators need to improve their defensive group if they hope to make the postseason soon, and Gavrikov would be a step in the right direction on that front.

With Gavrikov being a very good top-four defenseman, several teams are interested in him. Let’s see if Ottawa ends up being the team that lands him from here.
