NHL Rumors: Philadelphia Flyers Linked to LA Kings Forward
The Philadelphia Flyers are reportedly open to moving defenseman Ivan Provorov. The Los Angeles Kings have emerged as a potential landing spot for him, as they are trying to boost up the left side of their defensive group. According to Anthony Di Marco of The Fourth Period, the Flyers have “zeroed in” on Quinton Byfield because of LA’s interest in Provorov.
There’s no question that a top prospect like Byfield would be a major addition for a rebuilding team like the Flyers. Although he has yet to emerge as a star in the NHL, it appears that he is heading in the right direction with his development. Furthermore, he could be exactly the kind of player that the Flyers build around if acquired.
However, it also has been reported by David Pagnotta and Dennis Bernstein that the Kings are not open to the prospect of moving Byfield at this time. Yet, if their desperation to add a high-impact left-shot defenseman increases as we get closer to the deadline, perhaps they could have a change of heart when it comes to Byfield’s availability. Alas, we will need to wait and see what happens on that front.
