NHL Rumors: Rangers & Sharks Emerging as Blockbuster Candidates
In a recent piece for Daily Faceoff, Frank Seravalli argued that the New York Rangers’ primary objective should be to add a top-six winger at the deadline. This is a fair argument to make, as the Rangers could use a bit of scoring help on the wing. As a result, with San Jose Sharks forward Timo Meier available, he could be exactly the kind of player that they should be looking to add at the deadline.
The Sharks appear to be ready to go on a legitimate rebuild, so GM Mike Grier noted that he is open to trading away several of his players. From San Jose’s current roster, there may not be a more appealing trade target than Meier, as he is a young forward who offers a lot of offense to go along with solid defensive play. As a result, his market is going to be sizable, and we should expect the Rangers to be one of the teams trying to acquire him.
The Rangers need a boost to their offensive group, and there are not too many better options available than Meier. Let’s see if they end up being the lucky team to acquire him from here.
