NHL Rumors: San Jose Sharks Defenseman Requests Trade

According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, San Jose Sharks defenseman Ryan Merkley has requested a trade from the San Jose Sharks, and the Sharks are trying to accommodate.

Merkley was selected with the 21st overall pick of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Sharks. Since then, he has not been able to cement himself as a full-time NHL defenseman, so perhaps a change of scenery could be the best thing for both parties at this juncture.

Merkley has spent this entire season with the San Jose Barracuda, where he has 14 assists in 30 games. In 39 career NHL games, he has one goal and six points.
