NHL Rumors: Toronto Maple Leafs Linked to Blackhawks Star
The Toronto Maple Leafs are having a very good season, but everybody knows that their problems have occurred during the postseason. As a way to help prevent that this year, they are expected to be active as buyers at the deadline. According to the Fourth Period, they are one of the teams currently expressing interest in Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane.
Kane would certainly be an excellent addition to the Maple Leafs' top six, as he is an elite player while playing at his best. This season has been a bit rough for him, but a change of scenery to a much better Toronto team could help the future Hall of Famer find his scoring touch. After all, he could work magic with one of Austin Matthews or John Tavares as his center.
The Maple Leafs are limited in cap space, so the Blackhawks will need to retain half of Kane's salary and another team will need to help for this move to have any chance of occurring. We’ll have to wait and see if Toronto's interest in Kane ends up leading to them bringing in the star forward from here.
