NHL Rumors: Winnipeg Jets Making Trade Offers
The Winnipeg Jets are a team to watch leading up to the March 3 trade deadline. The Jets have surprised many this season with their success and appear to be a serious contender in the Western Conference. Look for GM Kevin Cheveldayoff to be aggressive leading up to the deadline.
The Jets have over $7 million in deadline cap space according to CapFriendly.com and have been trying to find ways to use it. Rumor has the Jets making several trade calls around the league, looking to take advantage of some selling teams.
The Jets have reportedly been in contact with the San Jose Sharks, Philadelphia Flyers, Arizona Coyotes, Anaheim Ducks and the Florida Panthers.
Cheveldayoff is trying to upgrade his forward group as the Jets could use another winger for their top-six and some more depth for their checking line. While the team doesn't have a second-round pick at the next draft, the Jets do own their first rounder and have a number of prospects who are getting close to NHL ready. The likes of Ville Heinola and Elias Salomonsson are two names to watch as the Jets are likely going to use their surplus of defensive depth to upgrade up front.
