Pittsburgh Penguins Forward Out Weeks
The Pittsburgh Penguins will be without forward Kasperi Kapanen for a few weeks as the speedy winger is out week-to-week with a lower-body injury.
Kapanen played on Wednesday against the Ottawa Senators and suffered the injury. He's been in and out of the coach's dog house this season and there's been multiple reports of the team trying to move him via trade, however this news will certainly put a damper on those plans.
Kapanen is signed through the 2023-24 season at $3.2 million against the cap. This season in 35 games, the Penguins winger has scored six goals and added 11 assists.
Pittsburgh has had a hard time finding the proper role for Kapanen since he arrived via trade from the Toronto Maple Leafs. We'll have to wait and see if he gets healthy enough and performs well enough once he's back to give general manager Ron Hextall a chance to facilitate a trade before the March 3 trade deadline.
