Washington Capitals Lose Another Forward
The injury bug has been bothering the Washington Capitals all season, and this trend is only continuing with this latest news. According to head coach Peter Laviolette, Nic Dowd "will be out a while" due to a lower-body injury.
Dowd left Monday's contest early against the New York Islanders due to injury, and now we have a better understanding of the severity of it. Although he is not a star, the 32-year-old forward has been excellent for the Caps this season due to his solid secondary scoring and stellar defensive play. Thus, losing him is certainly not ideal in the slightest for the Caps.
In 44 games this season, Dowd has 10 goals, 19 points, and a plus-9 rating. Replacing him in the bottom six will not be easy, but the Capitals will need to find a way to. Here's to hoping that the Alabama native has a speedy recovery with no setbacks from here.
