Most importantly for Toews, there does not appear to be any major long-term health concerns and it’s possible Toews could return to the lineup in March.

But out of fairness to other teams, Toews felt his body was not cooperating to compete at a high level right now.
With the news, the Blackhawks of course, will not be moving Toews ahead of the March 3 trade deadline. How this impacts Patrick Kane's decision remains to be seen. Both players grew frustrated with management last season as they decided to change their direction and start a full rebuild.
Toews is in the final season of his current contract and is a pending unrestricted free agent this summer. The 34-year-old has appeared in 46 games this season, recording 28 points.
