Columbus Blue Jackets Rumors: Joonas Korpisalo Trade Close
Columbus Blue Jackets netminder Joonas Korpisalo is a pending free agent who is drawing a ton of trade interest from contending teams around the league.
The Blue Jackets appear to be willing to move their backup netminder as management is looking to cash in on a few of their rentals. Korpisalo isn't a 1-A goaltender, however he's been on fire these past few weeks and could supply a Stanley Cup Playoff bound team with some more depth for their crease.
The 28-year-old Korpisalo holds a reasonable $1.3 million cap hit and is an interesting option for a number of teams because of his recent play and his minimal cap hit. The Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals, Vegas Golden Knights and even the Ottawa Senators have been rumored to have different levels of interest. In three games since #CBJ returned from their "bye" week/AS break, Joonas Korpisalo is 2-1-0 against Toronto, Winnipeg and Dallas.

He's allowed just five goals (103/108) in those games for a sizzling 1.68 GAA and .954 save percentage while facing a lot of high-danger chances.
Look for the trade talks to continue as we creep closer to the March 3rd trade deadline and look for the Blue Jackets to eventually ship off their backup for a pick and a prospect.Marek at the intermission says analytics show Joonas Korpisalo has been sneaky good lately attracting attention from teams looking for depth goaltending. On the last year of his deal with a $1.3M AAV.
