The 27-year-old Barbashev is a pending unrestricted free agent winger who is making $2.25 million in the final season of his contract. He's appeared in 59 games so far this season, collecting 29 points. His best season of his career came last year when he posted 26 goals and 60 points in 81 games.
The move helps the Golden Knights solidify some depth up front. The Blues land former first-rounder Zach Dean in the deal as St Louis looks to continue their retool.
St. Louis is trading everything that isn’t nailed down, but picking up a Canadian World Junior and recent first-round pick in C Zach Dean ain’t half bad!
