Montreal Canadiens Claim Forward Off Waivers From Panthers
The Montreal Canadiens have added to their forward depth, as they have claimed Chris Tierney off of waivers from the Florida Panthers.
The Canadiens are dealing with several injuries to their forwards, so perhaps it is not all that surprising that they have added Tierney to their group. The 28-year-old played in 13 games for the Florida Panthers this season, where he recorded three points. He primarily played with their AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, where he had 16 points in 20 games. Yet, now he will be aiming to make an impact with the Canadiens.
This could be a good opportunity for Tierney to receive more consistent playing time at the NHL level again. Keep in mind, the Canadiens have serious injury trouble and an already-weaker roster than Florida. Thus, he should not have too much trouble landing a role in their bottom six.
In 574 career NHL games split between the San Jose Sharks, Ottawa Senators, and Panthers, Tierney has 75 goals, 154 assists, and 229 points. Let's see how he improves upon these stats as a Canadien from here.
