Nashville Predators Rumors: Niederreiter Linked to Contender
The New Jersey Devils are preparing to be buyers at the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline, and one area that they are aiming to improve is their forward group. In a recent 32 Thoughts piece, Elliotte Friedman brought up the possibility of the Nashville Predators forward Nino Niederreiter being a trade target option for the Devils.
The Predators are rapidly falling out of the playoff race, so they are expected to be sellers. Niederreiter is certainly a player who makes sense as a trade target, as he is an effective middle-six forward and has playoff experience. Furthermore, if the Predators retain some of his $4 million cap hit, he could make sense for the Devils or another contender.
Niederreiter is having a productive 2022-23 campaign, as he has 16 goals to go along with 26 points. Overall, he would work well as a third-line option for the Devils as they gear up for the postseason, so we will need to wait and see if they end up making a push for the 2010 fifth-overall pick from here.
