NHL Rumors: Blackhawks & Lightning Linked to Possible Trade
The Chicago Blackhawks are going to one of the biggest sellers at this year's trade deadline. This is understandable, as they are in a complete rebuild and have several big-name rental candidates like Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, and Max Domi. However, Sam Lafferty is also garnering a good amount of attention on the trade market, too. According to Frank Seravalli, the Tampa Bay Lightning could be a potential landing spot for him.
If you're looking for a player who may bring a surprising return at the Deadline, it might be #Blackhawks forward Sam Lafferty.

Speed to burn. Quality penalty killer. Term on contract. Inexpensive cap hit.

The Lightning have become famous for bringing in depth forwards at the deadline, and it has worked out for them beautifully more often than not. As a result, we could very well see them take a chance on Lafferty before the postseason is here. The 27-year-old is having a solid year, as he has eight goals and 17 points in 43 games. With that, he plays a very physical game, so he would provide a bit more bite to the Lightning's roster if acquired.
Lafferty carries a $1.15 million cap hit until the end of the 2023-24 season, so he would be more than just a rental for the Lightning if acquired. We will need to wait and see if they do in fact land him at the deadline from here.
