NHL Rumors: Blues Forward Finished in St Louis
The St Louis Blues have some major decisions to make ahead of the March 3 trade deadline. General manager Doug Armstrong has several pending free agents the team needs to make a decision on and this includes Ivan Barbashev. Sounds like this decision has already been made and communicated to the player.
According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, the Blues have already informed Barbashev's camp, he will not be receiving a contract extension from the team and is not in their cards moving forward into next season and beyond.
Meanwhile, there's been contradicting reports from Barbashev's agent, shutting down Seravalli's comments. However, the insider is sticking by his source and what information he's been given.
Barbashev has appeared in 51 games this season, scoring nine goals and adding 15 assists. He's making $2.2 million against the cap this season and doesn't hold any trade protection. He's a prime trade candidate and will be moved by the Blues in the next three weeks.
