NHL Rumors: Calgary Flames & Arizona Coyotes Talking Trade
The Calgary Flames are heading into the 2023 Trade Deadline with the expectation of being major buyers. This is understandable, as they are currently fighting for a playoff spot in the Western Conference. Although they are looking to add a top-six forward, they are also aiming to improve their bottom six. As a result, there are rumblings that they are now one of the teams making a push for Arizona Coyotes forward Nick Bjugstad.
Bjugstad is quietly emerging as a quality trade asset heading into the deadline, as he has had a strong year with the Coyotes. In 51 games, the 30-year-old has 11 goals to go along with 21 points in 51 games. Although he hasn't been dominant, it is clear that he has provided a decent amount of secondary scoring. With that, the 6-foot-6 forward plays a strong two-way game provides physicality in the process.
On paper, Bjugstad could be a great addition to the Flames' bottom six, and this is especially so when noting that he can play both center and right wing. Alas, we will need to wait and see if the Minnesota native becomes a Flame from here.
