NHL Rumors: LA Kings Linked to Canadiens Defenseman
The Los Angeles Kings have made it known that they are aiming to add a left-shot defenseman before the deadline passes. According to The Fourth Period, they are one of the teams currently linked to Montreal Canadiens defenseman Joel Edmundson because of it.
Edmundson's name has been picking up steam in the rumor mill, and it ultimately makes sense. After all, Montreal is among the worst teams in the NHL right now and will be sellers at the trade deadline because of it. Furthermore, due to his steady defensive play and physicality, the Canadiens could land a very solid return for the veteran defenseman.
If the Kings acquired Edmundson, he would provide them with a notable upgrade to their top four. This is an area that needs improvement if Los Angeles wants to make a real run this spring, so we will need to wait and see if Edmundson ends up being their guy because of it from here. On paper, there seems to be a very good match here, and he could be a perfect partner for somebody like Drew Doughty.
