Ottawa Senators Rumors: Forward Being Linked to Division Rival

The Tampa Bay Lightning are looking to add to their depth before the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline passes. As a result of this, they are reportedly targeting Ottawa Senators forward Austin Watson.

Watson is expected to be traded by March 3, as he is a pending unrestricted free agent, and the Senators are low in the Eastern Conference standings. As a result, the Senators are looking to move him as a rental candidate, and it makes sense that a team like the Lightning want to acquire him. Watson would serve well as a depth forward for them during the final stretch of the campaign, as he is a grizzled veteran who plays an immensely heavy game. Therefore, he would give Tampa Bay a little more toughness for the postseason, and that is always welcomed.

Watson has had a quiet year offensively this campaign, as he has just four goals to go along with two assists in 52 games. Although those numbers are not too impressive, he also has a solid 115 hits on the campaign.
