Ottawa Senators Rumors: Predators Defenseman On Team's Radar

The Nashville Predators are reportedly listening to offers for Mattias Ekholm. According to The Fourth Period, one team that has him on their radar is the Ottawa Senators.

It is not particularly surprising that the Senators are considering the prospect of acquiring Ekholm. After all, when looking at their current roster, it is rather apparent that they need to improve their defensive group. Adding a top-four left-shot defenseman like Ekholm would certainly do just that, as he plays an immensely responsible defensive game, can chip in offensively and is well-known for his excellent leadership. These are all qualities that the Senators currently need.

The Senators have the cap space to take on Ekholm's $6.25 million cap hit until the completion of the 2025-26 campaign. We will need to wait and see if Ottawa's interest in the veteran leads to them acquiring him from here.
