Ottawa Senators Rumors: Watson Linked to Western Conference Team

While on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday (Feb. 11), Jeff Marek reported that Ottawa Senators forward Austin Watson is on the trading block. Now, it appears that Watson is already garnering interest, as there are rumblings that the Calgary Flames are making a push for the veteran winger.

The Flames are heading into the 2023 Trade Deadline with the expectation of being buyers. This is completely understandable, as they are fighting for a playoff spot and should certainly be making moves to help improve their chances. Although Watson is not a star, he would give them another decent option for the fourth line or serve well as an extra forward. With that, he would provide them with even more toughness when utilized.

Watson is going to receive plenty of interest at the deadline, as he is the kind of player that teams like to have for the postseason. We will need to wait and see if the Flames' interest in the 2010 first-round pick leads to them landing him from here.
