Red Wings' Dylan Larkin Discusses Trade Rumors
Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larking is a pending unrestricted free agent and frankly contract extension talks have gone nowhere so far. Larkin is looking for a brand new long-term extension and even though there's been a ton of trade talks, the Red Wings captain prefers to stay in Motown.
Larkin spoke to the media earlier this week and had this to say about his future:
I've said it all along, and I stand by it: I really see myself as a Red Wing. (But) there's contract negotiating to be done. This is my first time in this position as an unrestricted free agent. But I doubt contracts really ever go smoothly until they're done. It just seems people are fishing and speculating. I don't really want my business out there. I understand we're in the spotlight and fans want to know. They deserve to know. But I think it's not really the most truthful, you know? It's just speculation, and I don't really read into that too much.
The 26-year-old Larkin has recorded 43 points in 47 games this season and in 551 career games with the Wings has scored 162 goals and 239 assists. Larkin carries a $6.1 million cap hit this season and if Detroit is out of the playoff picture and contract talks are going nowhere, look for Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman to cash in on his rental before March 3.
