Seattle Kraken Rumors: Defenseman Becoming Trade Candidate
The Seattle Kraken have had a very good 2022-23 season, and they are expected to be buyers at the deadline because of it. However, in his most recent 32 Thoughts piece, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman noted that he wonders about Carson Soucy's availability at the trade deadline.

Soucy is a pending unrestricted free agent (UFA), and Friedman noted that the Kraken "aren't Krazy about simply letting him walk." This is entirely understandable, as Soucy is a defenseman who carries plenty of trade value. As a result, if he can land the Kraken, say, a second-round pick and prospect, this is an avenue that the Kraken should at least consider.
Soucy has emerged as a very solid shutdown defenseman, so teams around the league would love to acquire him as they gear up for the playoffs. Some potential landing spots could be the Boston Bruins, Edmonton Oilers, Washington Capitals, and New York Rangers.
Nevertheless, we will need to wait and see if Soucy finds a new home at the deadline from here.
