St Louis Blues Rumors: 3 Favorites to Land Ivan Barbashev

The St Louis Blues continue to try and fast track a rebuild as they've pulled off big trades with the Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Rangers. More moves are coming and many insiders feel it's forward Ivan Barbashev who is next to go. Here's the latest buzz around Barbashev trade destinations:

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers are looking to add a forward and a defenseman and have Barbashev on their radar. They know him well from their matchups with the Blues and could use his combination of skill and speed on their wings. He also brings a bit of nasty to the table which is something the Oilers could use more of as they try to prepare for a long playoff run.

Boston Bruins

The Bruins are likely going to make one move before the trade deadline and while management would love to add a left-handed defenseman, it's a player like Barbashev who could be their addition. He's a hard nosed playoff style of player and he's able to play all over the lineup. Boston loves versatility and also love the fact he's only carrying a $2.2 million cap hit for the rest of this season. Certainly a team to watch here.

Carolina Hurricanes

The 'Canes have a ton of money to work with ahead of March 3 and will be adding at least one forward up front. Barbashev could become their backup plan should they lose out on San Jose Sharks forward Timo Meier.
