Toronto Maple Leafs Rumors: Forward Up For Grabs via Trade Market

The Toronto Maple Leafs continue to talk trades as general manager Kyle Dubas has been a very busy man these past few weeks. The Leafs GM is trying to upgrade his roster to give this team the best chance to win and word is here's actively seeking a defenseman.

Rumor has Dubas offering up Pierre Engvall in trades as the depth forward is a pending unrestricted free agent making $2.2 million against the cap. Engvall is a smooth-skating 6-foot-5 winger who does not play  a physical game even with his size. He's recorded 21 points in 57 games as the 26-year-old has mostly appeared on the team's third line this season.

The Maple Leafs are rumored to be talking to a number of teams regarding defensemen including having interest in former Maple Leaf Luke Schenn. The Vancouver Canucks are trying to sell off a number of pending free agents and are also having trade talks on just about everyone else not named Elias Pettersson or Quinn Hughes.

As for Engvall, he's unlikely to be re-signing in Toronto and could be used to balance out the books if the Maple Leafs acquire a blueliner with a big cap hit this season and beyond.
