Vancouver Canucks Rumors: Insider Links Goalie Trade to 2 Teams
The Vancouver Canucks management group continues to discuss several trade scenarios ahead of the March 3 trade deadline. While most of the attention is on Brock Boeser and JT Miller at the moment, goaltender Thatcher Demko continues to be linked to trade proposals. According to hockey insider Kevin Weekes, there's two teams to watch in the Demko sweepstakes.
IF Van decide to move stud G Demko I can see the following ; @penguins have multi All-Star G and B.C Native Jarry, @BuffaloSabres have young G UPL, @LAKings stacked w young players and prospects, Peterson & Copley under contract as well. @NHL @espn @NHLNetwork #HockeyTwitter

The 27-year-old Demko is working his way back from a minor injury and should be game ready in the coming days. He's signed through the 2025-26 season at $5 million, a contract which is very reasonable for a starting netminder.
Goaltender Thatcher Demko would likely be open to a change of scenery vs. going through a rebuild with the #Canucks …AAV of $5 million with three years left.

As for potential destinations, the Penguins make a ton of sense as both Canucks President Jim Rutherford and general manager Patrik Allvin came from the organization. They know Jarry well and could likely get a contract extension completed before this upcoming offseason.
