Washington Capitals Rumors: Forward Being Shopped

The Washington Capitals made it clear that they are sellers on Thursday (Feb. 23) when they traded Dmitry Orlov and Garnet Hathaway to the Boston Bruins. Other pending unrestricted free agents are now available for the taking, and Lars Eller is one of them.

Eller is in the final season of his contract and carries a $3.5 million cap hit. If the Capitals retain half of his salary, there is no question that playoff teams around the league would be open to bringing him in. The 33-year-old is a solid two-way forward that has the potential to be an upgrade to a contender's bottom six, so expect interest in his services to increase from here.

Eller has played in 58 games this season, as he has seven goals, nine assists, and a plus-1 rating. Expect teams like the Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, Vegas Golden Knights, and Carolina Hurricanes to be some of the teams linked to him before the deadline passes.
