3 Potential Trade Destinations for Edmonton Oilers' Jack Campbell

Now that the NHL Trade Deadline has come and gone. We will look at players that could be on the move this offseason.  The Edmonton Oilers jumped at the chance to sign Jack Campbell last offseason to a 5-year, $5.0 million contract. Well, we are in the home stretch of the season and Campbell hasn't played up to that value. The Oilers also have Stu Skinner between the pipes, and he has helped get their team into the playoffs and is projected to be the starter in the postseason. So what does that mean for Campbell? The obvious answer is to trade him and use that cap space on other areas, so let's look at three potential trade destinations for him this offseason.

Los Angeles Kings

The Los Angeles Kings made a big move at the deadline acquiring both Joonas Korpisalo and Vladislav Gavrikov from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Kings' legend, Johnathan Quick. With Korpisalo in the net, they have played extremely well. However, he is on an expiring deal and if he chooses to walk in free agency, then they will need another goalie. Enter Jack Campbell, he was a member of the Kings organization before being dealt to the Toronto Maple Leafs. He still has starter potential and a potential reunion with LA could help him find his game again.

Seattle Kraken

The Seattle Kraken have relied heavily on Martin Jones to hold down the crease this season. They also have Philipp Grubauer who has struggled since he left the Colorado Avalanche. They could be looking at the buyout for him this offseason and will need to find a replacement between the pipes. Interestingly enough, this past offseason the Kraken signed former Toronto Maple Leafs' goalie coach Steve Briere, who played a huge part in the emergence of Jack Campbell. Campbell tends to like familiarity, so having Briere there as the coach could help this trade.

St. Louis Blues

The St. Louis Blues are home to public enemy number one, Jordan Binnington. He has quickly become one of the most disliked players in the NHL. He has a tendency to worry more about trying to fight the opposition rather than saving pucks. It appears that the Blues' head coach Craig Berube has seen enough of his antics. As a result, the team could be looking to acquire another goalie, and Campbell could be a viable option for them. St. Louis has a very experienced defence core that could help relieve some stress from his plate, which could allow him to get back to the basics and find his game.
