Chicago Blackhawks Rumors: Defenseman Becoming Trade Candidate

The Chicago Blackhawks are in a major rebuild, and they have traded away several players because of it. Now, they appear to have another trade candidate, as there are rumblings that they are expected to listen to offers for Ian Mitchell this summer.

At 24 years old, Mitchell is still young, but he may not fit into the Blackhawks’ current rebuilding stage. Keep in mind, Chicago has moved other young players since they’ve embarked on the rebuild, so it does not seem too out of the question that Mitchell could be the next one on his way out.

Teams looking for a bit of depth on the right side of their defensive group could certainly consider making a move for Mitchell. This is especially so when noting that he has the potential to become a legitimate bottom-pairing NHL defenseman. Perhaps a change of scenery could be exactly what helps him take the next step in his development.

Nevertheless, we will have to wait and see if Mitchell does in fact end up on the move from here. It may be the best thing for him at this juncture of his career, but time will tell if he ends up on the move.
