Florida Panthers Sign Forward to Extension
The Florida Panthers are keeping one of their veteran depth forwards around, as they have signed Zac Dalpe to a two-year, two-way contract extension.
Dalpe has appeared in 14 games this season with the Panthers, where he has two goals to go along with two assists. Overall, that is not bad production at all from a depth forward, so it make sense that they are keeping him around as insurance for two more seasons.
Dalpe has primarily played in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers, however. He has been a valuable veteran presence and point producer with Charlotte, and the truth is in his stats. In 41 games played with the Checkers, he had 18 goals to go along with 31 points. This is another major reason why the Panthers have decided to bring him back.
Overall, this is not a major move by any stretch of the imagination, but it has the potential to be a solid one that comes with zero risk. We will need to wait and see how Dalpe responds to this new contract through his play from here.
