Maple Leafs Make Lineup Changes Ahead of Canucks Matchup
The Toronto Maple Leafs are welcoming back goaltender Matt Murray on Saturday as they visit the Vancouver Canucks. Murray has been out of the lineup since Jan.17 and has missed a total of 17 games since his last appearance.
The veteran Cup winner has been in and out of the lineup in his first season in Toronto. GM Kyle Dubas has hung his hat on him and Ilya Samsonov to carry the load heading into the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season and now time will tell if they are capable.
The 28-year-old Murray is ready to step back in after his recent ankle injury and will need be activated off LTIR in the process. The financial savvy Maple Leafs left themselves enough room post trade deadline for two moves....activate Murray and sign Matthew Knies.
With the #leafs not making any NHL additions today, they've left enough cap space to activate Matt Murray from LTIR in the coming days and sign Matthew Knies to an entry-level contract when his NCAA season ends.

Murray owns a 11-5-1 record in 2022-23, with a 2.73 GAA and .911 save %. The Maple Leafs hope Saturday's game in Vancouver is the start of a long run of productive play these next few months.
