Ottawa Senators Star Defenseman Out Multiple Weeks

The Ottawa Senators came into 2022/23 with plenty of expectations following a fantastic off-season, and while they've failed to build consistency throughout the year, they find themselves just 5 points out of a playoff spot with less than 3 weeks to play.

That playoff push took a major blow earlier today as Ottawa's Head Coach confirmed that star trade deadline acquisition Jakob Chychrun would be out a couple of weeks with a lower body injury, potentially putting him out for the remainder of the regular season. 

OTT head coach DJ Smith said this morning that Jakob Chychrun out a couple of weeks with a lower-body injury; Ridly Greig out for rest of season with a sternum injury.

In 12 games with the Senators since being acquired from the Arizona Coyotes, Chychrun has put up 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points, but his impact on the team goes beyond the stat sheet, so they'll be hoping that they can continue competing without him ahead of a potential return with games to play.
