Pittsburgh Penguins & San Jose Sharks Agree to Deal
The Pittsburgh Penguins are bringing back a familiar face as they've acquired Nick Bonino from the San Jose Sharks. At this point the return is unknown, but likely to be a late-round pick and at least one low-key roster player to balance out the books.
Good morning…hearing that late last night, Nick Bonino was dealt to PIT @IceSinghHNIC

Nick Bonino makes a little over $2M. Penguins had just over $400K in cap space last night, could get that a little over $1M with Drake Caggiula going back.

Doesn’t necessarily have to be a player going out. Could be retained salary.
The good news is that the Penguins are 8-0 all time in playoff series when Nick Bonino is in the organization.

Bonino was with the Penguins organization in 2015-2017 and was a part of the famous 'HBK' line along with Phil Kessel and Carl Hagelin. The checking forward played in 45 Stanley Cup Playoff games throughout his tenure with the Pens which included a Stanley Cup in 2016.

So far this season the 34-year-old has 19 points in 59 games. He's amassed 820 career NHL games and 105 more in the postseason so Bonino's experience will be well suited for the team's fourth line as they look to re-jig their bottom six.
